How to get to Barcelona

There are several ways to reach Barcelona, Spain's second largest city and the capital of Catalonia.  Plan your ground transportation during your time in Barcelona by reserving a Barcelona car hire.

The majority of tourists arrive by plane.  Barcelona International Airport is a major transport hub and fields flights from all over Europe and beyond.  The airport is only  about 10 km from the city center.  You can arrange for your rental car in Barcelona to await your arrival at Barcelona International Airport.

Airport Rental Car

Some low-cost carriers such as Ryaniar use the airports in Girona, about 100 km north of Barcelona, or Reus, around the same distance to the south.  Both of these airports make good cost effective options, and you can easily fly into them and then experience more of the country by car rental on your way to Barcelona.

Car Rental Tran Station

An excellent option when Barcelona is part of your Eurotour is to arrive by train.  Several trains per day, and even some overnight, arrive to Barcelona from all over Europe.  The main train stations in the city are the Barcelona-Sants, located to the south west of the center, and Barcelona-Estació de França, on the edge of the old town next to the seafront district of Barceloneta.

Barcelona Port

The port in Barcelona is one of the busiest on the Mediterranean.  It supports both Ferries and cruise ships.  You can arrive to Barcelona by boat from the Balearic Islands, Genoa, and Rome.  When coming from Rome travel by boat is actually cheaper than the bus.  When you reserve your car hire for Barcelona online you can arrange to be picked up near where the ferry docks on the Ramblas.
